Projects
A project groups related tasks — a launch, a client, a quarter's work. Each task belongs to at most one project. To connect a task to other work as well, use labels or relationships.
#Making a project
Press c p, or hover Projects in the sidebar and press +. Give it a
name and, if you like, an icon. Every project gets a key such as SP-P0003,
which is what its links use.
#The project page
At the top: its icon, name, key, a star to add it to your Favorites, its status, how far along it is, and its description (click to edit; @ links people and things, just like in a task).
A project's status uses the same statuses as tasks, so there's only one list to set up. Its progress comes from its tasks and isn't tied to its status — set the status yourself.
Below that, three sections:
- Tasks — the project's tasks in the full task view, with every layout, filter and grouping. Whatever you set up here is saved on the project for everyone. Open in Tasks takes the same view to the Tasks page.
- Overview — tasks by status, tasks completed per week, who's working on it, what's next and recent activity.
- Docs — docs attached to the project or linking to it, and the tasks, comments and chat messages that link to it.
#The Projects page
Projects in the sidebar (g p) lists every project with its status, task count, overdue count, last update and progress. Two charts at the top compare them: tasks by status, and tasks completed per week. Hide charts puts them away.
Organise the list into folders with New folder, then drag projects onto a folder to move them in. Right-click a project (or use its ••• menu) for everything else you can do with it, including Move to space and Move to Trash.
#Moving a project into a Space
A project can live in the workspace or in one of your Spaces. Moving it takes its tasks and docs along, and the app tells you first who will start or stop seeing them.
#Deleting a project
Move to Trash (or d d on the project's page) asks first. If the project still has tasks, you choose whether they go to the Trash too or stay, without a project. Everything can be restored from the Trash.
