Comments & mentions
#Comments
Every task has a conversation at the bottom of its page. A comment starts a thread, and anyone can reply in it, so side discussions stay together.
- Write in Leave a comment… at the bottom (or press u c in a task's tab), or in a thread's Leave a reply… box.
- Send with your send key — Enter or ⌘/Ctrl+Enter, whichever you chose in Settings → Preferences → Comments & chat. The other one makes a new line. The small arrow in the box sends too.
- Comments are rich text: formatting shows as you type (
**bold**,-for a list), / adds a block, and selecting text shows a format toolbar. - Hover a comment for its menu: copy its text, copy a link to it, or reply. Your own comments can also be edited and deleted.
Guests in a Space can comment on the tasks they can see.
#Internal notes
On a task in a Space with guests, admins and members choose who a comment is for: Reply to guests (everyone on the task sees it) or Internal note (hidden from guests). Replies to an internal note are internal too.
#@mentions and references
Type @ in a comment, a description, a doc or a chat message to link
something: a person, a task (by key or title), a project, a view, a dashboard,
a doc, a label or a chat channel. You can also type a date — @tomorrow,
@next friday. What you pick becomes a chip that always shows the item's
current name. Pasting a link to something in the workspace on its own turns it
into a chip too.
Mentioning a person tells them: it lands in their Inbox. Only people who can see where you wrote it are told. When someone you mention can't see it — for example, it's in a Space they're not in — the app tells you, and if you're allowed to add people to that Space it offers to. Editing a mention out, or deleting the comment, takes the notification back.
In chat, mentions notify people who have joined the channel. See Chat.
#Seeing what links to something
Tasks and projects list the other tasks, comments and chat messages that link to them, so you can follow a conversation back to where it started.
