Dashboards

A dashboard is a grid of charts that answer "how is the work going?" at a glance — tasks by status, work finished per week, who has the most open, how long things take.

#Making a dashboard

Press c d, or the + on Dashboards in the sidebar. Like a view, a new dashboard can be yours alone or shared with everyone, and it can live in the workspace or a Space. Dashboards in the sidebar (g d) lists them all, with folders to keep them tidy.

#Adding charts

Press New chart and pick a type:

ChartShows
BarA total for each group — for example, tasks per status.
PieEach group's share of the whole.
LineHow a count changes over time.
TimelineA running total over time.
KPIA single number.

Then fill in what that type needs:

  • Group by — Status, Priority, Type, Label, Assignee or Project.
  • Time axis and Bucket by (Line and Timeline) — which date to count by (due, start, created, updated, started or completed) and whether to count per day, week or month. Split into lines by draws one line per group.
  • Measure and Only tasks (KPI) — what to measure, such as the task count or the average or median cycle time, and which tasks to count.

Switching a chart's type keeps whatever still applies.

#Arranging charts

  • Drag a chart by its header to move it; drag its corner to resize it.
  • Click a chart's title to rename it.
  • Its ⋯ menu has Edit chart, Duplicate chart and Remove chart.

#Filtering the whole dashboard

The Filter button and the query bar (the Query button) work as they do in a task view, but only filters apply here. The filters you set show as chips under the header and apply to every chart at once. See Query language.

#Seeing the tasks behind a chart

Click a bar or a slice to open the tasks it counts — the dashboard's filters plus that value — in a task view of their own. Alt/Option+click opens them to the side.

#Saving changes

Like a saved view, changes to a dashboard's filters or charts show at once but are held as a draft until you Save. Save a copy… keeps them as a dashboard of your own, and Discard goes back. Renaming and sharing save at once.
